Sustainable planting design

About Me

Sally Browne grew up in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne; her early playground was Wattle Park, Burwood which set up a lifelong passion for native plants. Wattle park, according to Sally was her spiritual saviour growing up ‘in the burbs’. At the age of 4 she made a collage on the back of a cut up cereal box and decided that she wanted to be an artist. In pursuit of artistic creativity she studied at Box Hill TAFE in the 90’s majoring in painting and drawing and later studied at the Victorian College of the Arts, majoring in sculpture. By this stage Sally had discovered a passion for plants whilst living in share houses around the Brunswick area. So Sally divided her time equally between studying fine art, working in hospitality, swimming at the Brunswick pools and tending her ever growing interest in gardening fuelled by her close proximity to CERES nursery.

….years later, in 2011 this passion led to Sally completing a garden design course at Burnley Horticultural College, The University of Melbourne.

… in 2013, whilst living in the inner Western suburb of Footscray, Sally launched her garden design business.

Skip forward to 2021, and Sally now lives and works in Geelong, broadening her practice across the Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula.
